Lee has been tutoring Ruben for his Citizenship test for about a year. Their classes have evolved over time into many enjoyable adventures, laughter, and learning opportunities. We asked Lee what he likes the most about being a tutor, and he replied, “Relationships. Helping other people is one of the best feelings.”
Ruben and Lee enjoy going to new places and doing fun activities outside of their regular classes. They’ve been to church, various parks, and even flown on a plane together. “Lee is a pilot, and he wanted to share that experience with me. It was an incredible day. He also taught me some of the procedures, so I was able to learn while having fun”, Ruben shared. They will never forget that moment, and their relationship has become stronger since then. Lee said, “I like taking Ruben to new places, it gives him the opportunity to learn and it makes me happy to be able to do things like this.”
If we are sure about one thing, it is that Ruben and Lee have memories together that will last a lifetime. Tutoring doesn’t have to be boring or always take place in a classroom. Finding things you have in common with each other and having hands-on experiences together can be a fantastic way to learn English!
