Fox Valley Literacy Education Programs

At Fox Valley Literacy, we are committed to providing free classes and tutoring for adult learners in essential areas: reading, writing, math, English language, civics & citizenship, digital literacy, and individual projects. We thrive solely on the support of volunteers and donors, enabling us to offer accessible education to everyone in the northeast Wisconsin counties of Outagamie, Waupaca, northern Calumet, and northern Winnebago.

We believe improving literacy is the foundation for a stronger community. By empowering adults with the skills they need, we foster personal growth, civic engagement, and economic stability. Together, we can create a brighter future for all.

Here is what we offer adult learners:

English Classes:

Small group and individual instruction to enhance language skills for everyday communication and professional opportunities.

General Education:

Courses designed to help learners achieve their personal educational goals such as strengthening reading or math for personal or professional reasons, or to gain essential knowledge and skills for their GED and HSED.

Digital Literacy:

Classes and self-guided materials to build digital skills.  Topics range from introduction to using a computer, navigating the internet, getting started with Microsoft Word or Google Docs, to Excel, staying safe online, and accessing telehealth.

Civics & Citizenship:

Programs that prepare individuals for active participation in civic life and the naturalization process including help studying for the citizenship test and preparing for the citizenship interview.

HMong Literacy:

HMong language and literacy classes for HMong children and caregivers in person at Johnston Elementary School/HAIS and for HMong adults, online.

Financial Success:

Financial success class and stand-alone workshops to help individuals and families understand financial systems and be prepared to manage their finances and meet future goals.

Driving Success:

6-week class that helps newcomers understand essential driving laws, the role of the police in the US, what happens during a traffic stop, how to get a drivers permit, and more.

Individual Projects:

Customized support for learners to pursue their unique educational interests and goals such as the written portion of the driver’s test, entrance exams, computer skills, and more!

All our programs are free to participants, made possible solely through the generous contributions of volunteer tutors, operational volunteers, donors, and partners.
